Summer Reading Reviews

Hello Dear Readers! It’s been too long. So much has been going on lately in my life, both good and bad, so prayers are always much appreciated. However, for now, I wanted to give you a few book reviews from books that I’ve read in the past year. Also, some fan art that I absolutely adore will be at the end.

Book reviews:

4/5 stars

I’m not gonna lie, this book shocked me in a good way. I will say it was slow in some bits, and it took me a while to get through this book, but it was good. I think it was good to get some insight into Snow’s life before he became president and how he came to be the way he is. Lucy’s character was also a really nice addition. Knowing that Snow had a big part in the Hunger Games that we know today was crazy. Seeing him and his sociopathic tendencies throughout the book was also eye-opening. Suzanne Collins is an amazing author. Also… I will never listen to “The Hanging Tree” the same way again.

The Inheritance Games

4.5/5 stars

This book was so good! I loved every second of reading this book. It had so much to offer. Mystery, romance, thriller, multiple hot Hawthorne grandsons… This is also one that has fairly short chapters, which I loved. Somehow, it makes the book go by faster and makes multiple good stopping spots throughout the book. I read this one fairly quickly (within a week) and immediately ordered the next one, the Hawthorne Legacy. Also… unpopular opinion, but I prefer Jameson over Grayson.

It Ends with Us

4/5 stars

This is one that was so hyped up over the course of the last few years. It’s one that my friend recently made me read, and I wasn’t disappointed. It wasn’t my favorite, but it was still good. I really liked how the author didn’t really have a clear villain in this one. Or, there was obviously the antagonist, but he was still human, and you knew why he did what he did, unfortunately.

A Thousand Boy Kisses

3/5 stars

This book had me SOBBING. Literally almost every chapter. The story was good, and the romance was cute sometimes, but this was not my favorite book. I didn’t love the writing, and I think what held this book back was that I really just didn’t like the main characters, ESPECIALLY the main guy, Rune. He got better at the end, but through most of the book, I just hated his character. So, while this book was good and extremely heart-wrenching, it definitely wasn’t my favorite. But, if you want to cry… read a Thousand Boy kisses!

The Love Hypothesis

5/5 stars

Now, this… this book was one of my favorites of the year! It literally took me two days to read, and I couldn’t put it down! The fluff in these (cute scenes) was impeccable and had me squealing. I loved every second of it and loved the main characters even more. Adam and Olive are so cute together, and I was so glad I got to read their love story. The setting and ages were also so much fun to read for me. It was set in an academic setting at Stanford, where lots of classes, events, and meetings were mixed into the story. I loved this book and was so glad I got the opportunity to read it! So worth it!

The Daughter of the Pirate King

5/5 stars

I also really loved this book. I read it very quickly, and I found that it has a little bit of everything. Action, romance, humor, etc. The main character was so witty and easy to love, I really just loved going through the story with her. Plus, a pirate story with sword fights and snarky first mates? Where could you go wrong? It was so much fun to read, and this one will be one that I will be reading again.

The Cruel Prince

4/5 stars

The Folk of the Air series is one that I had heard a lot about before I read it, and honestly, they ended up being worth it. The Cruel Prince is the first in this series, and I loved it. It’s an awesome fantasy novel with an enemies-to-lovers romance and an epic main character. All of the characters are written really well, and I enjoyed all of the action. It’s a book I would recommend and has some of the best fanart, in my opinion!

Some of my favorite fanart from these books:

Thank you for sticking with me, and I hope you’ll have the opportunity to read some of these books I enjoyed so much!

Until next time,
Peace Out, Lovers!

Hello beautiful people! I am Scarlett Mae, and I am a Hopeless Romantic.

I am so happy to be given the opportunity to work with this wonderful blog and these amazing ladies. I hope that I can bring yet another perspective to this already amazing and chaotic world Chloe and Emily have created. And a piece of advice while I’m here, read what I write through a fairy’s eyes. Full of wonder.
